Hello readers.
Recently, I've been observing the sadness in this world. I was wondering How is it that everyone in this world is sad? How can that be? Every person I meet, Everyone I'm related to, all of my friends, every single one of them is sad about something. I just find that exhausting.
You see, I believe, sadness is a default state of a human mind. We're all sad, always. It's like the electrons in the valence band of the forbidden energy gap diagram of conductors and semi-conductors. Our minds are always in the valence bond state(The sad state). When we get excited about something and light finally enters our darkness stricken world, we get into the conduction band(The Happy state). This, also provides an apt description of what depression is. It's just the bigger forbidden gap(Like in insulators). For example, a mentally healthy person would have a diagram of a Conductor and a depressed person would have one of an insulator. This would be better described with help of a diagram.
A depressed mind would not be easily excited because it's usually indifferent to every stimulus it experiences. Hence, the bigger band gap. Whereas a healthy mind would easily be excited. Mainly because they tend to be more grateful about everything that happens in their life. We all know that gratitude is directly wired into our biology. Gratitude prevents negative feelings like Envy, Social Comparison, Narcissism and as a result people who are more grateful tend to be happier because "The Happy State" would be more readily available to them.
Human Beings have a tendency to search for things to make them sad. They always look for things they can be angry about, they can moan about, they can be sad about. It makes sense, doesn't it?
What would you rather think of at two in the morning, The people who left you or the people who appreciate you? We all know which is the healthier option, but we all go ahead and choose the former. People would rather talk about people that annoy them or people that make them cringe than the people that appreciate their existence and care for them. It's more fun to be nasty, right?
It's more fun to be beastly to someone than being a sunflower. I'm not omitting that people don't talk about people that they like, I'm just saying that most of the time, most people talk about being annoyed than being loved. When your mother or father or partner comes home from work, how many times have you heard them speak about the nice things that happened. It's always that Tiffany's a bitch or Greg's a bastard.
We like being sad. When we're sad, we tend to make ourselves more sad by diving deeper into the emotions we're feeling and listen to emotional sad songs until we start crying and once we do that we feel alright. Maybe, It's a defense mechanism our brain has. For example, If you like nutella and bread and you eat a lot but it makes you fat. So you decide, to eat it a lot, so much so that you get sick of eating nutella and bread so you would no longer feel the urge to eat it.
I hope we'll find a way to be more grateful about this life about the things that happen. Maybe, one day we'll stop thinking of reasons to stress ourselves, maybe one day we'll live.
We can all do better.
Thank you.
